This traditional tea trivet was used in the late 1700's. The antique cast iron tripod was implemented into daily lives for the heating and cooking of foods. It would be placed near a fire or over coals to heat and cook the food slowly.

Early cooking implements range from the classic trivet, an iron tripod used for cooking over fire or coals, all the way to hasty pudding sticks, a wooden spoon like device used to make porridge like substances. These mini cooking pots represent the classic pot used in the 19th century. Tripod legs were used to raise cooking pots so they could be placed over the source of heat, usually coals or a fire. At the time, fire was quintessential for all households, and was constantly being tended to, as they not only provided a source to cook, but heat for the house.
